This project is the radical renovation of a home from the nineteen seventies designed by the Modernist Sarasota Architect Don Chapell.

After analyzing the existing plan, we identified some avenues of improvement to meet our client’s needs better.

The long, narrow plan was book-ended by the kitchen at one end and the Living Room at the other. A staircase in the center choked the circulation between them. This arrangement made the layout unsuitable for the client’s needs; to make a space conducive to entertaining. We did two things to achieve this; relocate the stairs from the center and reorganize the front façade to accommodate internal areas better.
